Frequently Asked Questions

Please contact us if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Sunken eyes or under-eye hollowness (often treated with tear trough filler) are usually caused by a combination of factors:

  • Ageing: Natural loss of collagen, fat and bone support around the eyes

  • Genetics: Naturally deep-set eyes or thinner under-eye skin

  • Fat loss or redistribution: From ageing or weight loss

  • Skin thinning: Makes hollows and shadows more visible

  • Bone resorption: Loss of mid-face support over time

  • Lifestyle factors: Poor sleep, stress, smoking, dehydration

  • Medical factors: Allergies or chronic sinus congestion (can worsen shadows)

Tear trough filler helps restore lost volume, smooth the hollow, and reduce shadowing—best suited for patients with true volume loss rather than pigmentation or puffiness.

Your journey begins with a thorough consultation to identify if you are a suitable candidate for tear through fillers or if other treatments would be better suited for you.

We will begin by applying topical numbing cream and will then carefully place dermal fillers below your eye. The whole procedure will take 15 minutes

Common side effects of dermal fillers are usually mild and temporary. They include:

  • Redness, swelling, or bruising at the injection site
  • Tenderness or pain
  • Itching or firmness/lumps under the skin
  • Mild asymmetry

These typically settle within a few days to two weeks.

Rare side-effects include infection, abscess, local necrosis, scar and very rarely allergic reactions

  • Refrain from touching or applying pressure to the treated area for at least 24 hours.
  • Expect some swelling, bruising, and redness, which can last a few days (typically 5-7 days)
  • Avoid strenuous exercise and alcohol for 24 hours post-treatment.
  • Fillers can take up to two weeks to settle into place.
